Keywords

So it's been pretty busy with client work. An I have a number of topics I have been meaning to cover on this blog.  So here is the deal over the next several weeks I am going to cover them at an extremely rapid pace.  So make sure you book mark the site. Follow Koury Enterprises on Face book and Twitter so you know when the new posts have been posted.

So today I am going to cover Keywords.

What are keywords?
Well keywords as defined as a list of words that are used through out the document to describe what content is being provided.  This list of words is used by search engines to determine the value of your websites content to the potential search query that user is making.

How do I get keywords?

Using no more than 3 words in phrase start by describing your business.  Your goal  is 20-40 words or phrases.  Talk to your customers, your friends, and your business partners.  Have fun but be creative.  Remember this are the words that potential clients and customers are going to put into a search engine.  An you want to be listed.  Another technique which doesn't hurt is check out the competition.   If your competitors are coming up for various searches it doesn't hurt to see what keywords they are using.  A great tool is Google Analytics.  The reports generated for your site can also help guide you to what types of words and getting people to your site already.

What do I do with this list of keywords?
Well it is the content of your site.  It needs to have these keywords in use.  Pictures should be tagged with the keywords.  This area is an article by itself so we wont go in to much detail now.

An the other area that keywords are used is in the heading of the HTML code that you don't see on a webpage . Your basic page looks like this:

<html>
<head>
<meta name="keywords" content= "YOUR KEYWORDS GO HERE SEPARATED BY COMMAS"/>
</head>
<body>

</body>
</html>

Your webmaster, web developer should know how to implement this feature.

This is only one small step in the grand scheme that has to be implemented to get your site ready to be found on the web.

  1. Nice post and explanation about keywords. Many people start a site, or a blog, without ever thinking about who they want to attract-- of course, proper keywords and SEO are key. Your site is filled with info that would have helped me when I got started blogging and working in SEO and social media-- I am sure it will be helpful to many new marketing people.
